Peppered Bacon & Beans

Ingredients

  • 3 – 12-oz bag of Husk Green Beans
  • 1 lb thick-sliced bacon, chopped
  • 1 large red onion, chopped
  • 1 can (28oz) petite diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/4  cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 can (16oz) red beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 Tbsp. black pepper

Directions: Fry bacon partially (do not crisp), drain and reserve drippings. In bacon drippings, sauté onion until tender. Combine green beans, tomatoes, brown sugar, pepper, salt, bacon and onion in slow cooker.  Cook 4 hours.  Stir in red beans and cook additional 30 minutes.
